Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Center 50 years of Prevention,
Treatment and Recovery Day
The Celebration of Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Center's 50th Anniversary
will be held on July 15th at Aiken Barnwell Mental Health- Hartzog Center,
North Augusta, SC.
WHEREAS, 1 in 5 American Adults experience mental illness
WHEREAS, 1 in 5 American Children experience mental illness
WHEREAS, 44 million adults in the US experience mental illness
WHEREAS, 25k Adults in Aiken County experience mental illness
WHEREAS, Mental disorders are the leading cause of disability in the US for
ages 15-44
WHEREAS, Persons with mental illness die decades earlier than the general
population mostly due to preventable medical conditions
WHEREAS, The economic cost of untreated mental illness is more than 100
billion dollars each year in the United States.
WHEREAS, Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Center is one of the many
organizations dedicated to supporting the recovery of families, adults and
children living in Aiken and Barnwell counties.
WHEREAS, Prevention Works, Treatment is Effective and People Recover
THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED that, I,
Mayor of North Augusta, do hereby designate July 15th, 2015 "Aiken
Barnwell Mental Health Center 50 years of Treatment Prevention and
Recovery Day" in North Augusta, South Carolina.
