Subject: Application for Creighton Park Restroom Murals

Dear Mural Review Board and North Augusta Planning + Development Department,
On behalf of North Augusta Forward, I am pleased to submit this application for the installation of murals on
the restroom pavilion screen panels at Creighton Park in Downtown North Augusta.
These murals have been commissioned by North Augusta Forward as a continuation of the City’s recent
investment in creative placemaking and pedestrian connectivity. We intentionally selected North
Augusta-based artist and illustrator Dawn M. Cardona to design and paint these murals in order to extend the
visual language of the crosswalk murals she previously designed for the intersection of West Avenue and West
Pine Grove Avenue.
The artwork proposed for the Creighton Park restroom pavilion builds upon the established crosswalk designs,
incorporating the same color palettes while introducing additional illustrative elements, such as animals, to
expand the original concept. Together, the crosswalk murals and pavilion murals are designed to visually and
physically connect Downtown North Augusta to Creighton Park, reinforcing the pedestrian path and
strengthening the sense of arrival at the park.
The murals will be painted directly onto the pavilion screen panels using a high quality exterior matte finish
paint and coated with an anti-sacrificial anti-graffiti coating. This is the same protective material used on the
Center Street Greeneway Tunnel Mural commissioned by North Augusta Forward and installed in 2024,
ensuring durability and ease of maintenance.
North Augusta Forward plans to celebrate the completion of the new restroom pavilion and murals with a
public ribbon cutting on Third Thursday, April 16, 2026, recognizing the project as a whole and its contribution
to downtown connectivity, park activation, and public art in North Augusta.
