GDOT Projects
13th Street Bridge Project
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has been planning the replacement of the 13th Street
Bridge. Originally constructed in 1939, the bridge has undergone repairs, including those in 1991, but it no longer
meets current safety standards.
The project aims to enhance roadway capacity and safety by reconstructing the existing structure to
accommodate two lanes of traffic in each direction and incorporating pedestrian-friendly features.
Initially approved in 2022 with an estimated cost of $56.6 million, the project's budget has increased to $65
million due to inflation and other factors. Consequently, GDOT has postponed the construction start date to 2028,
with completion anticipated by 2032.
