RES 2024-44 MASC Hometown ED Grant AdoptedRESOLUTION NO. 2024-44 COMMITTING THE CITY OF NORTH AUGUSTA TO PROVIDING A LOCAL MATCH FOR A MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH CAROLINA HOMETOWN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT WHEREAS, the Municipal Association of South Carolina (MASC) offers Hometown Economic Development Grants up to $25,000 to cities and towns within South Carolina to assist in the implementation of economic development projects that positively impact the quality of life in their communities; and WHEREAS, the City of North Augusta is a member in good standing of the Municipal Association of South Carolina, making it eligible to apply for the Hometown Economic Development Grant; and WHEREAS, the City of North Augusta desires to apply for the 2024 Hometown Economic Development Grant to support the installation of downtown wayfinding signage; and WHEREAS, the City of North Augusta is committed to providing a 15% matching contribution, not to exceed $3,750, as required by the grant guidelines; and WHEREAS, the City Council of North Augusta recognizes the value of this grant program and supports the effort to secure funding to enhance economic development opportunities in the community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of North Augusta, South Carolina, that: 1. The City Council fully supports the application to the Municipal Association of South Carolina for the 2024 Hometown Economic Development Grant for the purpose of installing downtown wayfinding signage. 2. The City Council commits to providing a 15% matching contribution, not to exceed $3,750, from the City’s Capital Projects Fund to ensure the successful completion of the project as outlined in the grant application guidelines. 3. The City Administrator or his designee is hereby authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to submit the grant application on behalf of the City of North Augusta, and to provide additional information as needed during the application and grant review process. 4. The City Council further resolves to meet all accountability requirements set forth by the Municipal Association of South Carolina, including providing documentation throughout the project’s duration and at its completion, as well as cooperating with any on-site reviews of the completed project.
