PROCLAMATION
North Augusta Sertoma Club 50 Year Anniversary
WHEREAS, on April 11, 1912, in Kansas City, Missouri, a club was formed based on community service, friendship, and business
contacts which became known as Sertoma; and
WHEREAS, one such Sertoma Club was founded on December 3rd, 1971 and is now known nationwide as the North Augusta Sertoma Club; and
WHEREAS,
since its founding on December 3rd, 1971, members of the North Augusta Sertoma Club have generously given of their time, talents, and material resources and have taken an active role
to help the North Augusta, South Carolina community through hosting projects and sponsorships including the sponsorship of a large portion of University Hospital’s Speech and Hearing
Clinic; the Sertoma Room at the Nancy Carson Library; numerous annual scholarships and transportation for the speech and hearing impaired to attend Camp Sertoma; sponsorship of local
athletic teams; annual college scholarships for CSRA students; the ongoing support of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety plus too many more to mention.
NOW THEREFORE, I,
Briton S. Williams, Mayor of the City of North Augusta, South Carolina, do hereby declare this proclamation of commendation and recognition of fifty years of continuous service to mankind
and more specifically to our community of North Augusta, South Carolina.
