A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES FROM INSURANCE PROCEEDS
TO INITIATE ELECTRICAL REPAIRS AT THE MATERIALS RECOVERY FACILITY
WHEREAS, on November 25, 2021 a fire at the City's Materials Recovery
Facility (MRF) damaged the electrical system, processing equipment and a portion of the
building structure; and
WHEREAS, the City received an advanced partial payment totaling $500,000
from the South Carolina Municipal Insurance and Risk Financing Fund to initiate replacement
of the electrical system and other damaged assets; and
WHEREAS, the City solicited sealed bids and has identified the electrical
service low bid contractor to be Ireland Electric with a cost totaling $55,425 to replace and
install a new 600 AMP electrical service panel, 200 AMP baler transformer, wiring, conduit,
receptacles, emergency and warehouse light fixtures.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council for
the City of North Augusta in meeting duly assembled and by the authority thereof, hereby
authorize electrical repairs at the MRF to commence utilizing Ireland Electric as the primary
contractor with total repair costs not to exceed $60,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Administrator is authorized to
execute all documents related to the electrical repairs and expenditures will be paid from the
MRF operating budget utilizing insurance proceeds from the advanced partial payment
deposited into the Sanitation Fund.
DONE, RATIFIED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH AUGUSTA, SOUTH CAROLINA, ON THIS 21ST
DAY OF MARCH, 2022.
