North Carolina. Tom was on City Council for 14 years and was Mayor of North Augusta from 1985-1997. He has an amazing four terms. He spearheaded the formation of NA 2000 and chaired that organization for its first 14 years • because he saw a need for a broad base strategic plan for North Augusta and a non governmental organization to coordinate its implementation. Another example of his vision and legacy is the 14 mile Greeneway Trail which was named for him. The recreational impact of the Greeneway cannot be overstated when we talk about quality of life for our citizens. The Greeneway has been a game changer. Tom served this community that he loved for 48 years in various roles. He truly left his mark. For me personally, early on in my community involvement, he made me./eel that 1 was worthy to be at the table and that he respected by opinion and ideas. He was gentleman and someone who 1 always tried to learn from in regards to the skills needed when working with others.
