ORDER OF BUSINESS
REGULAR MEETING
The regular meeting of August 20, 2012, having been duly publicized, was called to order by
Mayor Jones at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Jones rendered the invocation and led in the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Members present were Mayor Jones and Councilmembers Adams, Baggott, Carpenter,
McDowell, Shealy, and Whinghter.
Also in attendance were B. Todd Glover, City Administrator; Kelly F. Zier, City Attorney; John
P. Potter, Jr., Director of Finance; Scott L. Sterling, Interim Director of Planning and Economic
Development; John C. Thomas, Director of Public Safety; Thomas C. Zeaser, Director of
Engineering and Public Works; Diana H. Miller, Manager of Human Resources; and Donna B.
Young, City Clerk.
Minutes of Regular Meeting of 8/20/12
The minutes of the regular and study session meetings of August 6, 2012, were approved by
general consent.
ITEM 1. PARKS, RECREATION, AND LEISURE SERVICES: Authorization to
Commence Eminent Domain ProceedinlZs for Tax Parcel Number 011-07-04-
004—Resolution—Motion to Table
On motion by Mayor Jones, second by Councilmember Adams, a motion to table
the resolution to authorize the commencement of eminent domain proceedings
for tax parcel number 011-07-04-004 was unanimously tabled.
ITEM 2. STREETS AND DRAINS: Walton Crossing/Vincent Village/Five Notch
Road Crossing
Cheryl Lyle, representing the disabled community of Walton Crossing, addressed
Mayor and Council regarding the request for the placement of a traffic signal or
other ADA accessible alternatives at 217 West Five Notch Road. Ms. Lyle also
submitted a petition to Mayor and Council to support this request.
Mayor Jones assured Ms. Lyle that the City of North Augusta had submitted a
request to the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) but the
request was denied. Mayor Jones asked Director of Engineering and Public
Works, Tom Zeaser, to submit an application request to SCDOT again for some
type of crosswalk in the area of 217 West Five Notch Road.
There being no further business, Council adjourned.
