ATTACHMENT 6 Young, Donna From: Amanda Williams <awilliams @cumbeecenter.org> Sent: Friday, March 17, 2017 4:22 PM To: Young, Donna Subject: Permit Request for Sexual Assault Awareness Walk Good afternoon and Happy St. Patrick's Day, Ms. Young. I hope this email finds you well. I spoke with you a couple weeks ago about doing a walk downtown for Sexual Assault Awareness month on April 27th. As instructed, I spoke with Chief Thomas, and he gave me the go- ahead and I could ask for help with street crossings if we needed. I am still attempting to talk to local shop owners near the corner of Buena Vista and Georgia Avenues to see if we could use a parking lot or part of the sidewalk for everyone to gather that evening. We are not expecting more than 30-40 people. I am requesting a permit to be able to walk up Georgia Ave. in awareness of Sexual Assault Awareness month. I appreciate all of the help from you. Also, we are asking to hang teal ribbons on the light poles down Georgia Ave. as well throughout the month of April. We do this for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, but our previous contact, Scott Stirling, has resigned, and I was not sure who to speak to about this. I did speak with Rick Berry, who stated he would be able to help, and I am awaiting response from him. We would like to hang the ribbons on the last couple days of March and let them remain through the last week of April if possible. Please let me know what else you need from me for this to go forward. The Cumbee Center truly appreciates your time and effort with this important cause. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I have contacted the person in charge of the food truck area, and he stated we could use that area as our meeting place at 5:45. We would like to start at that point and walk up the sidewalks of Georgia Ave to about E. Pine Grove Ave and turn around to return back to the food truck area. Chief Thomas stated he is willing to have an office help us cross Buena Vista Ave. This event should not take more than an hour. We really appreciate your help!
