RES 2015-19 Adopted RESOLUTION NO. 2015-19 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING NORTH AUGUSTA 2000 FOR THEIR VISION CONCERNING A POSSIBLE NORTH AUGUSTA DOWNTOWN GREENEWAY CONNECTOR AND AGREEMENT BY THE CITY TO COOPERATE WITH NORTH AUGUSTA 2000 IN THE PLANNING STAGE FOR SAME WHEREAS, North Augusta 2000 has previously presented to the City a concept for the creation of a Downtown Greeneway Connector; and WHEREAS, in furtherance of North Augusta 2000's vision, they have presented such concept to Aiken County government and have received a commitment of $25,000.00 from County Accommodations Tax that could be used in the future for the actual development of such connector; and WHEREAS, North Augusta 2000 has advised the City of its desire to retain a firm to prepare an action plan for the proposed connector; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to express its appreciation to North Augusta 2000 for this endeavor and commit the cooperation of the City during this planning process. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of North Augusta, South Carolina, in meeting duly assembled and by the authority thereof that North Augusta 2000 is authorized to proceed with planning for the possible development of a Downtown Greeneway Connector; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City commits its cooperation to North Augusta 2000 and such firm as chosen and contracted with by North Augusta 2000 for this design phase; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that nothing, as set forth in this resolution, commits the City to any specific development plan and that any decision by the City to pursue such Downtown Greeneway Connector is a matter that would require future consideration by Mayor and Council; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the that the City is greatly appreciative and commends North Augusta 2000 for its action in pursuing this possible Downtown Greenway Connector that would benefit the citizens of this community.
